Camera and microphone

This page asks your browser for access to your camera and microphone only when you start a test. Video and audio are processed in your browser. We don’t send, stream, upload or store them on our servers.

Recordings and snapshots

The 5-second recording is held in this tab’s memory so you can play it back, and is discarded when you record again or leave the page. A snapshot is saved only if you click Snapshot, and it goes to your own device.

Device information

Device names, resolution, frame rate and audio levels are read from your browser and shown on your device only. The report you copy stays on your clipboard.

Stored preferences

Your light/dark theme choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. Clearing site data removes it.

Advertising

Ads are delivered through Bigheim Technologies, LLC’s advertising service at ads.bigheim.com. Ad requests include standard connection information, such as your IP address and browser headers. The service records ad impressions and clicks. Your camera, microphone and test results are not included in these ad requests. Clicking an ad takes you to the advertiser’s site, where their privacy policy applies.

Using Cam & Mic Test Station

Cam & Mic Test Station is a free tool for checking your own camera, microphone and speakers. By using it, you agree to these terms.

Sound levels

Test tones can be loud, especially on headphones. Start with the volume low and raise it slowly.

Your own devices

Use this tool only with devices you are entitled to use, and don’t record other people without the consent that your local law requires.

Results are estimates

Measurements such as frame rate, brightness and sound level depend on your browser, operating system, drivers and lighting, and may differ from other tools. They are not a hardware certification or diagnosis.

Third-party content

Advertisements and linked sites are run by others. We aren’t responsible for their content, products or practices.

Provided as is

The service is provided without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damages arising from its use.
